Just over 4 years ago this was a working barn full of cattle and hay, says Linda Clegg as she describes her home at Talbot Fold Barn. What was the dairy is now the kitchen but while the Aga and dresser unit still give it the homely, traditional air of a dairy, the rest is crisp and clean and completely modern.

When Linda and her husband Derek took on the task of converting the barn, its location alone provided further challenges. Its in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty so we couldnt alter anything from the original barn, Linda explains. Everything that was here has had to be reused but I like the idea of making everything look exactly like it was. The best example is the huge floor-to-ceiling windows which run from our lounge through the master bedroom with double doors opening onto the elements and during winter you can see to the local landmark Pendle Hill everything revolves around that because its famous for the witches of Pendle!

Lying in a parkland setting of outstanding natural beauty, Read Hall Farm is the former home farm to the Read Hall Estate and was developed by the current owners from farm buildings and cottage a number of years ago into what is now a most desirable and imposing residence.

Believed to have been built in the early 1800s this most charming of properties offers well planned internal accommodation with many original period features and with the potential for extending the existing living accommodation into the adjoining former dairy and grain store which could also easily make a separate dependent relatives property, cottage or workspace.

With grounds adjoining Read Hall and nestling in a small hamlet of five properties, Read Hall Farm lies in approximately 3 acres of adjoining grounds being mainly laid to lawn with mature trees and an adjoining 7 acre (approximately) woodland.
